Just a quick note to say that two of my books are currently on special offer. These are Through The Garden Gate and Up The Garden Path.
In case you haven’t guessed from the titles, these are both collections of 24 garden themed short stories. Both are reduced to 99p / 99c and are also available through Kindle Unlimited.
(Sorry the images are so huge. I can’t work out a way to get an image alongside the text, despite spending so long trying I could have written another three pages!)

Special offers!
Several of my short story collections will be on offer at the reduced price of 99p / 99c over the next few weeks – different ones at different times and for different periods (because of Amazon’s rules on price promotion periods).
The ones available today are Slightly Spooky Stories II and Slightly Spooky Stories IV, both of which have two dozen not too scary ghost stories No Family Secrets, 25 family ‘related’ stories and All That Love Stuff, which contains 24 romantic tales.
You’ll be able to see all my books, and look out for the next offers here.
Happy new Year!
Here’s to a very different, and far better, year for us all.
Coffee And Cake
I have a new book out! It’s a collection of 25 short stories all with a food and/or drink theme.

Here’s the blurb –
We eat and drink for more than mere survival. Food comforts and reassures, connects us with others. A mug of coffee wakes us up in the morning. A cup of tea can calm us down.
Cakes are great for celebrations, birthdays in particular. Making one specially for someone shows how much we care. The same applies to learning to make their favourite dish, or passing on your signature recipe.
The food and drink choices we make expose aspects of our personality. What we give to others, and the care we take when doing so, can be even more revealing.
Sharing food helps build, or repair, relationships. It creates and recreates traditions and brings back memories – if that’s what we want.
Whether you prefer unsweetened black coffee, or milky tea, rich sponge cake or something savoury, this collection of 25 stories provides the perfect snack.
You can get it here.
A little experiment…
WordPress have changed how posts are created. I don’t usually like change, especially when it comes to technology, or ‘new and improved’ recipes for my favourite snacks. I know I’ll end up confused or disappointed.
However I did notice there’s now an option for a slideshow. I do like a slideshow, so I’m going to see if I can make that work…
Oooh, I think it did!
Free and bargain reads
I’ve just set up a Facebook group called ‘Free And Bargain Reads’.
It’s for readers to find free books to read, discuss, and recommend to others. For writers it offers the chance to promote their free books and special offers.

Spooctacular news!
I have a new collection of short stories out today! Slightly Spooky Stories IV contains 24 not too scary tales, which are just right for some fangtastic hallowe’en reading.

Ghosts, sixth sense and things not of this world aren’t always scary, though they can be. Some help or warn, frighten or comfort those who perceive them. Others are here for their own purposes, waiting for a chance to move on. We might see, hear or feel them, perhaps they’ll only reach us through our subconscious.
Are ghosts memories and echoes of the past, contacts from another time and place, or figments of our imagination? Whether you believe in them or not, ghosts, spirits and mysterious spooking happenings all provide stories. This collection contains 24 of them.
I’ve been interviewed!
You can read it here.

A few little things
Since my last post, a publisher nominated me for the pushcart prize, I’ve had stories published in Allas, Hemmets, My Weekly, two in The People’s Friend specials (and had another accepted) won a writing competition, and created another short story collection. Slightly Spooky Stories IV will be released on 21st October. The ebook is available to pre order now, and a paperback will follow soon.
Sometimes it feels as though I do nothing but brag when I talk about my writing here, or on social media – but then if I’m not proud of any success what would be the point in writing, editing and submitting?
And anyway, I don’t just brag – sometimes you get a sales pitch too!

That’s quite enough about me for now! If you’d like to try submitting stories to magazines, or entering free writing competitions yourself, then you may find my writers’ blog useful.
