True Romance

True Romance is the title of my short story in the current issue of Ireland’s Own. I got the idea for this one whilst sitting in my local library, waiting for the rest of my book group to arrive. It’s amazing how fast you can scribble down an idea when you know you’re going to have to stop writing and start talking about reading at any minute!

If you’d like to read some of my romantic short stories, you may like to take a look here. I have four collections of love stories, each with 24 stories in. As well as being on sale, these are available to borrow (as ebooks and paperbacks) from some libraries – as are all my other books. If you can’t find them in yours then do ask, as they may be able to get them in for you.

Over My Dead Body

No, I’m not issuing an ultimatum – that’s the title of my story in the current issue of Ireland’s Own. (You won’t tell them that despite my name, and the fact I spent my honeymoon there, I’m not really Irish, will you?)
As the strapline suggests, this story is about two strong-willed characters. It’s also about a mother-in-law who likes to get her own way, and is perhaps even a bit stubborn. Of course it’s entirely fictional and has absolutely no basis in reality whatsoever.
On an unrelated note, I find that writing can be a very cathartic process.

Feeling Dizzy

I’m very pleased to have my short story Dizzy in the latest issue of Ireland’s Own. There will also be two of mine in the July issue of Take A Break’s Fiction Feast, which will be out tomorrow.

If you prefer a longer read, you might like to know my two romance novels Firestarter and A Year And A Day are both reduced to 99p (or 99c) for the next couple of day.

Coincidences?

Three of my stories have been published this week – in three different countries! Allers, a scandanavian publication have reprinted The Mystery Postcard, which appeared in their sister publication Allas some time ago.

A Lucky Find is in the 7th February issue of Ireland’s Own. That story had a complicated route to publication, having been accepted years ago and getting overlooked, then

Friends in Fiction

I’m very pleased to have a story in the special Valentine’s issue of Ireland’s Own. The issue also includes a story by Maeve Binchey and another by my writing friend S. Bee, so I’m in really good company!

My story, Thirty Years On, is about a couple celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to the same seaside resort, Harrington-on-Sea, where they had their honeymoon. They eat quite a lot of cake, so
