Pomegranates at Peterborough

After Ely, our next visit of historical significance was Peterborough Cathedral.

No tower tour was available the day we visited – we did look up at the wonderful ceilings though, and walked through the exhibition on Mary Queen of Scots who was buried there for a time. This included letters she’d written, examples of her embroidery, a lock of her hair and many other items.

The cathedral is perhaps more famous for being the burial place of Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon. People still leave pomegranates, her emblem, as a tribute to her.
